Full Job Description

A well-established Glasgow-based architecture practice is looking to bring in a Project Architect to join their team as workload continues to grow. This is an opportunity for somebody who wants more than simply moving details around on a drawing package all day. They are looking for someone who wants genuine ownership, involvement and the chance to play a meaningful role in projects from early discussions through to delivery on site.

They are a studio that has built a strong reputation across a range of sectors and have developed a varied portfolio covering commercial, residential, leisure and wider mixed-use work. Rather than becoming heavily siloed into one niche, the successful person will have the chance to work across different project types and gain broad exposure across all stages of delivery.

This role would suit somebody who enjoys balancing creativity with practical delivery. They are not looking for somebody who wants to disappear into a large corporate structure where responsibilities become diluted across layers of management. Instead, they want somebody who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building relationships with clients and seeing ideas progress from concept through to completed buildings.

As a Project Architect, you would be involved in leading projects day to day, coordinating design teams, managing programmes and liaising with clients, contractors and consultants throughout the process. You will be trusted to take responsibility and make decisions while being supported by experienced directors and a collaborative wider team.

The environment itself is likely to appeal to somebody who enjoys being part of a close-knit studio. In a smaller practice environment, your contribution becomes visible. Your ideas are heard and your work has an impact. There is direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to continue developing professionally rather than feeling like another number within a large organisation.

They are looking for someone who is confident running projects and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities at once. Previous experience across technical delivery and job running will be important, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Revit experience would be advantageous, alongside a strong understanding of UK building regulations and project delivery processes.

For somebody who enjoys autonomy, variety and the chance to take ownership of their work, this presents a strong opportunity. The role offers the chance to become part of a business where people genuinely have influence over projects and where your career development does not depend on waiting for the person above you to leave.

If you have reached a stage where you want more responsibility, greater project involvement and the opportunity to play a bigger role within a growing and respected practice, this could be worth a conversation.
