Start: June / Early July 2026
Duration: Minimum 12 months
Expenses: Travel covered + £40/day meal allowance

Overview

We are supporting a brand‑new, nationally significant infrastructure project in Caithness and are seeking an experienced Site‑Based Quality Advisor to join the on‑site delivery team.

This is a long‑term opportunity with a reputable contractor, ideal for someone who wants stability, strong project exposure, and consistent Monday–Friday work on a major linear civils scheme.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work closely with the Project Manager Installation (PIM), Site Installation Manager (SIM) and Project Quality Manager (PQM) to ensure all quality requirements are met and recorded.
  • Ensure full compliance with project QCP and ITP requirements, supporting site managers and installation teams with accurate documentation and on‑site checks.
  • Verify adherence to relevant UK standards (BS EN, NGTS, ENATS) across all site activities, documentation, and plans.
  • Conduct routine and ad‑hoc inspections including duct spacing/depth, backfill materials, compaction, duct proving, haul road construction, cable installation, jointing and termination works.
  • Raise and manage NCRs for civil subcontractors; support root‑cause analysis and drive corrective/preventative actions.
  • Oversee and verify delivered materials, including quarry materials and routine testing of surround materials.
  • Support internal and client audits, ensuring readiness and accurate representation of site quality activities.
  • Promote a strong quality culture on site, delivering toolbox talks, lessons learned and improvement briefings.
  • Coordinate client witness points, ensuring activities are planned, communicated and documented.
  • Review project documentation for technical and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and update quality trackers and contribute to final documentation packages.
  • Liaise directly with client representatives and attend project meetings.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, taking proactive action to mitigate or realise them.

Experience & Preferred Skills:

  • Linear civil engineering experience essential.
  • Strong technical understanding of civil engineering, duct installation, reinstatement and cable‑related works.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and confident producing high‑quality documentation.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and technical standards.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Degree or formal qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Quality (preferred)
  • SMSTS / SSSTS
  • Temporary Works awareness/experience
  • First Aid (preferred)
