Full Job Description

WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor supporting high value projects to join our Commercial team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based from Beech House, with hybrid working available in line with role and project requirements. This is a strong opportunity for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who wants to work closer to real project delivery, with more ownership, visibility and variety across the UK water and infrastructure sectors. You will support the commercial management of projects across WGM's growing portfolio, helping to protect value, manage risk, support positive cashflow and provide the cost, revenue and contractual insight needed to help projects deliver successfully. WGM Engineering is a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure projects across the water, utilities and infrastructure sectors. As part of RSK Group, we combine the scale and support of a wider group with the practical, hands-on approach of a specialist engineering delivery business. What you'll do:

  • Provide commercial support across designated projects, helping to maximise value, protect margin, manage risk and support positive cashflow.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly Cost Value Reconciliations, including analysis of cost, value, revenue, margin, risk, opportunity, accruals and forecast position.
  • Produce cost analysis, revenue profiling, cashflow forecasts and commercial reports to support project reviews, financial reporting and senior decision-making.
  • Support NEC contract administration, including early warnings, compensation events, notices, payment processes, change control, contractual correspondence and accurate record keeping.
  • Manage applications for payment, interim valuations, subcontract accounts, variations, payment assessments and final account activity.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, site teams, finance colleagues, clients, suppliers and subcontractors, constructively challenging project information, cost assumptions and performance trends where required

Demonstrable experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Project Quantity Surveyor or commercially focused Assistant Quantity Surveyor within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities or a related project environment.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, payment processes, contractual notices and change control.
  • Experience producing or supporting CVRs, cost analysis, revenue profiling, forecasts, valuations, payment applications and commercial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, LOOKUPs and the ability to build or maintain dashboards and structured commercial reporting tools.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to monitor project costs, analyse variances, identify trends and provide clear commercial insight.
  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence stakeholders and constructively challenge clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Experience in the UK water sector, MEICA projects, utility frameworks, treatment works, pumping stations or operational infrastructure environments would be advantageous, but we are also open to candidates from wider construction, engineering or infrastructure backgrounds who can bring strong commercial discipline and transferable project experience. A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline would be beneficial, although equivalent practical commercial experience will also be considered. Support towards RICS, CICES or another relevant professional qualification may be available where aligned to the role and business needs.
