Full Job Description

If you are a Quantity Surveyor in Scotland and would like to explore new opportunities, then please contact James in Hays Construction and Property team on or email

Your new company
Hays is delighted to be supporting an established independent construction consultancy in its search for a Quantity Surveyor to join its Glasgow office.

Operating across Scotland and the wider UK, the consultancy provides Quantity Surveying, Cost Consultancy, Project Management, Building Surveying and Employer's Agent services across a diverse range of construction projects. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering professional advice throughout the full project lifecycle, from early feasibility and appraisal through to completion.

The consultancy works across a variety of sectors and project types, including residential and affordable housing developments, hotel and leisure projects, refurbishment schemes, commercial developments and wider public-sector construction projects. This breadth of work offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a varied portfolio and develop your experience across multiple sectors rather than being restricted to a single project type.

With established offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh and over four decades of industry experience within its team, the consultancy continues to support clients on projects of varying scale and complexity whilst maintaining a personalised and client-focused approach.

What you'll get in return

  • Salary of 45,000 - 50,000.
  • The opportunity to join an established independent consultancy with a diverse project portfolio.
  • Exposure to a broad range of sectors and construction project types.
  • The chance to work alongside experienced construction professionals within a respected consultancy environment.
  • A position that offers continued professional exposure across cost consultancy and project delivery services.

Your new role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of professional cost consultancy services across a range of construction projects.

Working alongside experienced surveyors and project professionals, you will be involved in the financial management and commercial control of projects from inception through to completion. Your responsibilities are likely to include cost planning, estimating, procurement support, tender analysis, contract administration, valuation work, cost reporting and final account agreement.

You will have the opportunity to work across a varied project portfolio that may include residential developments, hotel and leisure schemes, refurbishment projects, commercial developments and public-sector construction work. This varied workload offers excellent exposure to different procurement routes, project stakeholders and construction sectors.

The successful candidate will work closely with both colleagues and clients, providing clear commercial advice and helping to ensure projects are delivered within agreed budgets while maintaining high professional standards.
