Full Job Description

Knight Property Group is an award-winning Scottish property developer and investor with a long-established reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, industrial and residential developments across Scotland. With an extensive and diverse property portfolio, Knight Property Group is committed to creating exceptional spaces while maintaining a strong focus on innovation, quality and long-term investment.

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our growing and ambitious team.

The Role

This role provides the chance to work client-side on a varied portfolio of development projects and property works, playing a key role in both the successful delivery of new developments and the ongoing management and enhancement of our existing portfolio.

Based in our Edinburgh office, the role will involve regular travel to sites across Scotland. As such, applicants can be based anywhere across the Central Belt.

We are looking for an individual with Quantity Surveying experience gained within a main contractor or housebuilding environment, who possesses a strong understanding of cost management, valuations, value engineering and wider commercial matters. Project management experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Most importantly, we are seeking someone who is commercially aware, proactive, solutions-focused and keen to take ownership of their work while making a meaningful contribution to the continued success of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Working closely with our internal team, external consultants, contractors and stakeholders, you will:

  • Oversee pricing exercises, tender documentation and support the tendering process.
  • Prepare and/or support cost estimates, tender submissions, bid analysis and commercial negotiations.
  • Assist with project feasibility studies and commercial appraisals.
  • Monitor valuations, cost reporting, change management and project financial performance.
  • Review contractor valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Provide commercial and value-engineering advice across development projects.
  • Identify and report potential budget risks, cost pressures and other commercial impacts.
  • Prepare financial reporting and project updates for senior management and the Board.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered successfully and commercially.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role within a main contractor, developer or housebuilder environment.
  • A strong understanding of cost control, valuations, procurement and contract administration.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project.
  • A proactive attitude with a practical, "can-do" approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with design teams, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • The ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Benefits

  • Join an award-winning and highly respected Scottish property business.
  • Work on a diverse portfolio of exciting development projects.
  • Play a key role on the client/developer side of the business.
  • Be part of a supportive, close-knit and experienced team.
  • Competitive salary package of £35,000 - £50,000, dependent on experience.
  • Opportunity for professional development and long-term career growth.

If you are an ambitious Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career and contribute to the success of a leading Scottish property developer and investor, we would love to hear from you. Send your CV and appointment letter for consideration.
