At Carraig View, we provide a safe, supportive and nurturing home for up to four children and young people. Based in Port Glasgow, the service offers a therapeutic and relationship-based environment where children and young people are supported to build confidence, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes.

Our team plays an important role in creating a stable and caring home environment where children and young people feel listened to, valued and encouraged to thrive. Through consistent support, positive relationships and meaningful day-to-day experiences, we help every child feel safe, supported and able to reach their potential.

As a Support Practitioner, you will play an important role in helping children and young people feel safe, supported and valued within a nurturing residential environment. Through building positive relationships and providing consistent day-to-day support, you will help children and young people develop confidence, life skills and emotional wellbeing while encouraging them to reach their full potential.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will provide person centred care tailored to individual needs, helping to create a therapeutic environment where children and young people can build trust, feel included and experience positive relationships. You will support children and young people through daily routines, activities, education and community involvement while helping them build independence, resilience and confidence.

What you will do
* Provide high quality care and support to children and young people within a residential setting
* Build positive, trusting relationships using therapeutic and trauma informed approaches
* Support children and young people with emotional wellbeing, daily living skills, education and activities
* Encourage independence, confidence and positive life experiences
* Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, reviews and reports
* Work closely with families, carers and external professionals to ensure joined up support
* Promote inclusion and help children and young people remain connected to their communities
* Maintain accurate records and reporting using service systems and procedures
* Support children and young people during times of distress or emotional difficulty
* Work flexibly across a rota, including evenings, weekends and sleepover duties where required

What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient and committed to supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes. You will have a reflective and person centred approach, good self awareness and the ability to build positive and trusting relationships. You should be able to communicate effectively, work well as part of a team and remain calm and supportive in challenging situations. Experience within care and/or education is desirable, along with good planning, recording and IT skills. A full manual driving licence is required. Knowledge of attachment theory and trauma informed practice would also be beneficial.
