The ideal candidate will demonstrate progressing technical proficiency across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems, and be confident in piloting operations such as navigation, visual inspection, station keeping, and manipulator use. This role plays a key part in live operations and offshore readiness, and supports mobilisation, maintenance, and reporting activities. Working within the offshore ROV team and reporting to the ROV Supervisor, the Pilot Technician Grade I is expected to uphold high operational standards, contribute to a strong safety culture, and actively participate in the company's Competence Management Scheme (CMS) as they progress toward Senior Pilot Technician status. Your responsibilities as a ROV Pilot Technician Grade I: The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to;

  • Pilot the ROV during subsea operations, including navigation, station keeping, visual inspection, sonar tracking, and basic tooling deployment, under the supervision of senior personnel.
  • Assist in manipulator operations, including simple intervention tasks, object recovery, and valve operations as required by the work scope.
  • Support launch and recovery operations (LARS/TMS), including deck safety, tether management, and communication with deck crew and bridge.
  • Monitor ROV telemetry, video feeds, sonar, and sensor data during live operations to ensure situational awareness and early identification of anomalies.
  • Conduct pre- and post-dive checks, recording all data in accordance with company and client documentation procedures.
  • Carry out first-line fault-finding and basic corrective maintenance across ROV sub-systems, including hydraulics, electrical connections, sensors, and propulsion.
  • Undertake planned maintenance on ROV systems and associated tooling in accordance with the company's maintenance management system (MMS).
