Full Job Description

Are you ready to play a key role in propelling organisations on their data driven journey?

Sword builds foundations across platforms, data, and applications and our people have a shared passion for technology and solving complex business challenges for our customers.

Our core values and culture are based on caring about our people, investing in training and career development and building inclusive teams where we are all encouraged to contribute to achieve success. Our people and culture are our highest priority in all we do. Measurable feedback is captured annually to ensure we continue to improve and develop our offering.

We have an opportunity for a Sales Lead to join our IT Services team in Aberdeen. This unique role will form part of our senior leadership team and will help to shape up the future strategy and sales plans to meet our growth aspirations. We have a new leadership team within the business unit that bring a fresh and energetic dynamic, leading an exceptional technical team of over 150 staff.

The Sales Lead will drive growth by developing and then executing the sales plan, along with building and developing a team of business development/client partnership professionals. We are looking for someone to join us on our journey to position us to meet existing and future demand for many years to come.

Our dynamic energy business applies deep domain expertise, innovation, and comprehensive managed services to solve industry data challenges. We engage at all levels with our customer organisations to support the adoption of best practice in areas such as subsurface data management, digital solution development, and data governance.

We enable our customers to make reliable data-driven decisions, reducing uncertainty, cost and risk, as well as delivering a strong data foundation to help fulfil their digital aspirations.

Our team is a blend of technical and domain experts, professional consultants, dynamic delivery squads, and a lean management team to ensure we respond to our clients’ needs.

  • Develop and Deliver (in collaboration with the management team) a successful sales strategy to grow and diversify our customer base within our target sectors.
  • Develop long-lasting and meaningful relationships to achieve “trusted partner” status with our strategic and key clients.
  • Provide sales leadership and develop the sales team to deliver our growth targets.
  • Lead commercial and technical pre-sales activities, working collaboratively with our domain experts and our delivery teams, to grow our existing accounts and deliver new business.
  • Actively participate in the authoring of proposals and tender responses to articulate our offerings to our customers.
  • Identify whitespace and develop new offerings, deploying coordinated business development campaigns in our core and emerging market segments.

At Sword, we are proud of cultivating a respectful workplace that values the contribution of all our people, whatever their background or stage in their career. We welcome your application should you hold the right core experience, knowledge and your application sufficiently outlines your relevant skills or transferrable skills in this area. If you believe you're qualified, but don't "check all the boxes", please still submit an application and we will explore your experience further.

This is a key leadership role within Sword, reporting to the Business Unit Director, and as such we require leadership skills and a desire to deliver results.

You will have:

  • A demonstrable track record in sales, business development, team management or technical pre-sales.
  • A commercially focused mindset and possess the ability to deliver tactically and think strategically.
  • The ability to communicate and engage at all levels of an organisation.
  • The ability to build a sales narrative which resonates with our employees and our customers.

It would be advantageous to have:

  • Experience working within the Energy sector, selling services and consultancy in the UK and Europe.
  • Experience managing complex commercial and technical bids.

Benefits

Our people are supported and encouraged to develop their career with Sword through their own personal learning and development plan, alongside a competitive salary, pension, private health, wellbeing and insurance schemes, a flexible approach to working, and employee assistance programme.

This role offers a highly competitive, success-driven, open-ended commission scheme where we reward those that over deliver.

Sword is committed to maintaining a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunities employer. All applicants receive equal consideration for employment regardless of age, disability, gender identity or reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

If we can do anything to help make the hiring process more accessible, please let our talent acquisition team know when you apply so we can support any adjustments.
