Full Job Description

We have 1 temporary full-time post, fixed-term for 2 years and 2 permanent part-time posts, working 30 hours per week. The working pattern for the part-time posts are;

Post 1 - Monday - Wednesday, 7am-6pm

Post 2 - Thursday - Saturday, 7am-6pm which is accompanied with a 6% allowance

This is an excellent opportunity to join the Security Office as a Security Team Manager. The Security Office sits within our Operations and Digital Directorate. To see where the office sits within the organisation, have a look at our organisation chart.

The Security Office is responsible for protecting the Parliament building, passholders and visitors and preventing disruptions to Parliamentary proceedings. We provide a visible and reassuring presence throughout the building 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We're also responsible for security vetting and the issue of passes, monitoring the Parliamentary estate, responding to incidents in the building, facilitating protest, and managing entry and movements around the building. The Office also provides security advice to Members and their staff.

As Team Manager you'll manage a team of Access and Control Officers. You'll be responsible for the daily delivery of security operations across the estate in line with the Office's agreed KPIs and performance standards. You'll also be responsible for responding quickly and effectively to any issues that may adversely impact on the smooth running of business or the security of the building and its occupants.

You'll encourage a culture where your team members are empowered to deliver high quality work which will enhance the reputation of the Parliament. You'll also champion collaborative working with colleagues across the parliamentary service, promoting positive and open communication, as well as our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The successful candidate will be an experienced security professional with a proven track record in delivering a consistently high level of service to customers, even in a high-profile environment. You'll be able to demonstrate an up-to-date knowledge of security threats, how these may apply to the Parliament and explain how risks can be mitigated.

You'll have a proven track record of responding effectively to incidents and will be able to demonstrate that you learnt from these experiences to improve either your personal performance or to recommend team improvements. You'll be experienced in resolving conflict and be able to demonstrate your leadership of managing a change at work.

You'll demonstrate a high level of personal credibility with excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
