Full Job Description
Daniel is a 9-year-old boy who lives in the Coatbridge area. He is a smiley, highly energetic and affectionate young boy. Daniel loves listening to music and when you sing to him, sitting at his desk to do puzzles or learn something new, playing on his trampoline and on his scooter. He enjoys big open spaces and loves to run. He also has a love of water whether it is swimming, splashing or playing with water. He enjoys visiting museums, playing in the park or taking the occasional trip to the beach with his family. The Role This role involves providing 1:1 person-centred support which will help Daniel and promote his independence, dignity, safety and wellbeing. Daniel has autism and is non-verbal and requires support with communication and joint attention. The position will involve supporting Daniel both at home and out in the community to help him enjoy the things he likes whilst maintaining a supportive daily routine. Duties will include:
- Personal care support including changing his incontinence aids and support with dressing
- Supporting Daniel in the local community to go to the park, swimming or playing at home
- Support Daniel with his communication needs and joint attention using TEACCH methods, If you are selected for the next stage, a member of the GCIL Team will be in touch to arrange the next steps. If you are successful, you will be engaged on a self-employed basis. As part of this role, you will be required to provide evidence of the following:
- Public Liability Insurance
- Membership of the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme
- A valid Driving Licence and appropriate Car Insurance (where applicable) You will also be responsible for submitting invoices for work completed, which must include your payment details. - You must be Self-Employed with your own Public Liability Insurance.
- You must be registered with HMRC, pay your own National Insurance, manage your own tax returns and provide an invoice for the support provided.
- You have experience in a similar role working with children with autism and how to deal with any challenging behaviours.
- Willing to participate in activities that may require a degree of physical effort.
- You hold a clean driving license and own car.
- You have a PVG (Disclosure Scotland - Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership or are willing to join the scheme before starting.
- You are patient, friendly, reliable, trustworthy and an interest in music.
This will be based on a 2-week rotating basis Week 1 - 6 hours on a Saturday 10:00am - 4:00pm Week 2 - 2 days working 2 x 3-hour shifts - Thursday 3:30pm - 6:30pm and Saturday 9:00 am -12:00pm Rate £20 per hour (Self-Employed)
