Full Job Description
If you thrive at the intersection of engineering expertise and commercial impact, this is an opportunity to step into a senior, client facing role where your technical judgement and relationship skills truly matter. As a Senior Account Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering compliant, high quality asbestos and hazardous materials services while developing long term client partnerships and influencing business performance.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
The Senior Account Manager is responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of clients requiring asbestos surveys, air monitoring and associated hazardous materials services. The role combines strong technical understanding with commercial and account management capability, ensuring client requirements are accurately scoped, competitively quoted and delivered to agreed standards.
You will work closely with surveyors, analysts and project teams to coordinate delivery across a range of projects varying in size and complexity. Day to day, the role includes responding to technical enquiries, preparing detailed proposals, overseeing service delivery and maintaining clear, proactive communication throughout each project lifecycle. Through accurate quotations, effective client retention and identification of new opportunities, the role plays a direct part in driving revenue and long term business performance.
Your Impact in this Position
In this role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, supporting informed decision making and building confidence in both services and outcomes. Your contribution will directly influence revenue through accurate, commercially sound quotations, effective account retention and the identification of new opportunities within existing and emerging client relationships.
In the short term, you will take ownership of established accounts while also having the autonomy to grow your own portfolio through your professional network. Over time, you will have the opportunity to shape service improvements, lead larger and more complex project portfolios, and extend your commercial influence. With exposure to major projects and strategic clients, the role supports longer term development into senior technical consultancy or leadership pathways, aligned to your professional interests.
Core Capabilities
Commercial Accuracy and Performance Metrics
Commercial credibility sits at the heart of this role. You will produce accurate and well structured quotations for asbestos surveys, air monitoring and related technical services, underpinned by a strong understanding of methodologies, labour inputs, equipment requirements and time based costing. You will track account performance against agreed KPIs, interpret financial data, and understand how margin and cost drivers impact both client and business outcomes. Your attention to detail and ability to analyse trends will enable informed decisions that balance quality, compliance and commercial performance.
Contracts, SLAs and Compliance
You will manage client agreements with confidence, ensuring that scopes of work, contractual obligations and service level agreements are clearly understood and consistently delivered. A sound working knowledge of legislation and regulatory frameworks within the asbestos and hazardous materials sector is essential, enabling you to safeguard compliance, quality and safety at all stages. You will interpret contractual terms, identify risk areas early, and communicate requirements clearly to both clients and operational teams to ensure robust, compliant delivery.
Technical Support and Query Resolution
Clients will rely on you for clear, expert guidance on asbestos identification, survey strategies, analytical results and monitoring requirements. You will translate complex technical information into practical advice, helping clients make informed decisions with confidence. A strong understanding of site practices, survey techniques and analytical processes allows you to resolve issues efficiently, working closely with internal technical specialists to deliver timely, accurate solutions to both planned and reactive challenges.
Client Relationships and Strategic Engagement
Building trusted, long term client relationships is central to the role. You will engage regularly with clients through meetings, progress updates and project reviews, ensuring expectations are well managed and issues addressed promptly. You will prepare professional proposals, present technical information with clarity and adapt your communication style to a varied stakeholder audience. Consistency, transparency and responsiveness will underpin your relationships, strengthening client confidence and supporting long term account stability.
Account Development
You will identify evolving client needs and operational challenges, positioning relevant services that support compliance, efficiency and risk management. This includes preparing accurate quotations for new instructions, contributing to larger bids and tender submissions, and ensuring proposals are both technically robust and commercially competitive. Your confidence in networking and understanding of the sector will support the acquisition of new accounts, while a relationship led approach will drive sustainable portfolio growth through repeat business, upselling and cross selling opportunities.
