Senior Accounting Officer (Capital)
35 hours per week
Permanent
£46,503 - £49,295 / £25.48 - £27.01 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are inviting applications for a Senior Accounting Officer (Capital) to work within our Corporate Finance Section. Applications from candidates seeking to work part time will be considered.
The postholder will work within a busy team supporting the functions of the Corporate Finance Section, to support the delivery of priority projects for the Council.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the Team Manager in:
• Coordinating the approval process for the capital programme through the capital project appraisal process.
• Maintaining systems of budgetary control for the capital programme.
• Accounting for the creation, use, and disposal of fixed assets.
• Providing financial advice and technical accountancy support to client services for key strategic projects.
• Assisting in the development of financial strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who works well with others and is confident managing their own workload. The role involves handling financial queries from stakeholders both within and outside the Council, so strong interpersonal skills are essential.
We are looking for someone who holds an Accounting Technician (AAT Level 4 Professional Diploma) qualification or has a minimum of 5 years’ experience in line with the role specific duties and responsibilities.
You should have good numerical, communication and organisational skills and have experience of working with finance systems.
