Hays are delighted to be partnering with a respected organisation based in Glasgow city centre as they look to appoint an experienced Interim Senior Category Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior procurement professional to join a busy and collaborative function, supporting strategic procurement activity across a broad range of categories.
Your new role
As a Senior Category Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering value-driven procurement solutions and supporting stakeholders across the business. Operating as a procurement generalist, you will manage end-to-end sourcing activity, contribute to category strategies, and ensure best practice procurement processes are followed.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading end-to-end procurement and sourcing exercises across multiple spend categories.
• Developing and implementing category management strategies.
• Managing supplier negotiations, tender processes, and contract awards.
• Building effective relationships with internal stakeholders and providing procurement expertise.
• Identifying opportunities for cost savings, value improvement, and risk mitigation.
• Supporting supplier performance management and contract compliance.
• Ensuring procurement activity complies with relevant legislation, governance, and organisational policies.
• Producing procurement reports, spend analysis, and commercial recommendations.
• Supporting procurement projects through evaluation, supplier selection and contract award stages

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Demonstrable experience within a senior procurement, category management, or strategic sourcing role.
• A strong procurement generalist background with exposure to a variety of spend categories.
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation capabilities.
• Experience delivering procurement projects from strategy through to contract award.
• The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• MCIPS qualification or progress towards accreditation would be advantageous.
