Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday (with regular page holder cover on late shifts and requirement for 24 hours rotation)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the downstream cardiology ward (currently located in Ward 19) of Glasgow Royal Infirmary for a highly motivated Senior Charge Nurse to provide leadership and ensure high quality, safe, effective, person-centred care.  The post requires the successful candidate to demonstrate they are a strong clinical leader, be able to promote teamwork within a multi-professional environment and demonstrate critical analysis and decision making skills. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and expert advice to all nursing staff in this ward and responsibility will include recruitment, supervision, development and deployment of unit staff. You will ensure appropriate learning opportunities are available for all staff, encouraging best practice to deliver a high quality of patient care at all times in line with NHSGGC Care Assurance Standards.

The SCN will be required to work closely with all members of the multi-disciplinary team within the ward and the senior management team within ECMS. This is a key post in delivering our nursing strategies and ensuring the delivery of safe, effective and efficient person centred care.  You will be responsible to the Lead Nurse for clinical guidance and professional management. As Senior Charge Nurse the candidate will have 24/7 responsibility for the management of the ward and delivery of care assurance standards. The post holder will contribute to the rotational Senior Nurse Medicine cover rota out of hours.
