Full Job Description

  • You shall be qualified to a minimum of Degree/SVQ 4 level in a relevant discipline i.e. Social Work, Health, Education or Social Care
  • Knowledge and experience of working with the national and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post. This includes an awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, Human Rights legislation, United Nation Convention of the Rights of Child, GIRFEC & The Promise
  • Evidence of ability to work effectively with children and their families
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of systemic interventions and methodologies, such as attachment promoting, trauma-based interventions, child development and parenting capacity.
  • Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of working with children and young people on the edge of care
  • Experience of delivering parenting programmes or other group work.
  • Specialist experience of working with children and families in crisis or at risk.
  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable.

    RISE is a new service which is being developed to support our young people and families to stay together safely, build resilience, create lasting change and achieve their potential.
  • RISE will offer 2 different referral pathways 'Staying Put' and 'Coming Home'. The service will operate over 7 days per week, across 52 weeks of the year, on a rota basis. The service will offer a mixture of intensive support to Children Young people and their parents or carers and bespoke education support.

    Working Pattern: TBC - Rota Pattern Weeks per year: 52 Please note that it is Midlothian Councils policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Based on 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £44,989.60 per annum.
