ROLE

The purpose of this role is to be responsible for commercial activities across the operated and legacy upstream portfolio, safeguarding value, managing commercial and contractual risk, and delivering commercially robust outcomes through effective stakeholder engagement, negotiation and governance.

Working alongside the Head of Commercial, the role acts as a key commercial focal point supporting the company’s operating model and strategic objectives.

RESPONSIBILITES

  • Lead commercial management of key upstream agreements, ensuring contractual rights are protected and commercial value is maximised.
  • Lead and negotiate with a solutions-focused approach to commercial issues and disputes.
  • Manage commercial risks and ensure all current commercial obligations are met in a compliant manner.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of the company’s annual decommissioning security activities, ensuring compliance with industry agreements while protecting the company's financial position.
  • Pursue commercial solutions with tenacity, routinely deploying a range of influencing, leadership and negotiating styles dependent on the counterparty or internal stakeholder.
  • Analyse complex commercial, financial and contractual information and provide clear recommendations to support business decision-making.
  • Ensure commercial activities are conducted in accordance with delegated authorities, commercial governance requirements, Stewardship Expectation 7, ICOP/CCOP obligations, and industry good practice.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree qualified or equivalent relevant commercial, legal, financial or business experience.
  • Significant commercial experience within the energy industry, preferably upstream oil and gas.
  • Strong commercial, contractual and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage risk and influence outcomes.
  • Experience working with joint venture partners, third-party organisations and key stakeholder relationships.
  • Sound understanding of UKCS commercial, regulatory and decommissioning frameworks.
  • Ability to analyse complex information, provide clear recommendations and support governance decision-making.
