Full Job Description

This position sits within ET Digital Workplace Services and focuses on overseeing Aegon's strategic technical partnerships that support desktop services across the organisation. The Senior Digital Workplace Architect is responsible for evolving the Desktop Technology Strategy, ensuring technologies and vendor solutions are aligned, efficient, and delivering measurable value. The role combines strategic direction with hands-on expertise, working closely with service owners, technical teams, and architecture functions to enhance service performance, challenge existing approaches, and drive continuous improvement across the digital workplace environment.,

  • Responsible for maintaining Enterprise Technology's Desktop Technology Strategy, ensuring that corresponding strategic goals are planned, advanced and achieved, and that they deliver business value.
  • Provides direction for the vendor desktop strategy to ensure those technologies are cohesive and in sync
  • Provide hands on technology expertise to current desktop systems
  • Strengthens alignment by participating in in strategic and operational planning activities involving GTS service owners and top technical staff.
  • Provides consulting on operational processes to maintain strategic alignment and minimise customer impact.
  • Provides consulting for architecture team in reviewing strategic technologies and solution design.
  • Constantly engage in challenging the status-quo and bringing in more value to the organisation through in-house/external technology solutions
  • Conducts research for IT projects that are strategic in nature.
  • Assess various technologies, products, and services related to the management of performance-based information

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical strategy
  • Broad knowledge across key technology disciplines, including web, database, data centre, network, and workforce computing technologies
  • Deep expertise in modern endpoint management ecosystems such as SCCM, Intune, and automated application delivery frameworks, with the ability to drive global standardisation and modernisation
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and the major vendors providing cloud services
  • Experience modernising legacy code and automations using SQL, Visual Studio, and GitHub (branching, pull requests, CI), creating maintainable and testable solutions
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based virtual desktop platforms, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), AWS WorkSpaces, Citrix, and Nerdio, across deployment, scaling, image management, security, and cost optimisation
  • Experience using ServiceNow (SNOW) and ITSM processes, including automated PC provisioning pipelines, Hardware and Software Asset Management, full asset lifecycle workflows, and cost/billing reconciliation

    Salary: A competitive salary from £52,720-£79,080 depending on the experience you can bring,
  • We're serious about your future and our enhanced pension scheme is now in place. We ask you to contribute 3% of your salary to your pension and we'll put in 9%. If you decide to contribute more, we'll match it up to a combined total of 20% of your salary (that's 7% from you and 13% from us).
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
  • 34 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)
