Job Description
What your new role will entail
We have opportunities for experienced hydrogeologists and groundwater experts at senior/principal levels to support activities in the UK across our offices. Join our team of 30+ groundwater experts to help us with projects in the UK and overseas which range from groundwater source investigation to dewatering and groundwater flooding; impact assessment of major infrastructure schemes to water management; and development of strategies to better manage this precious resource. We pride ourselves on capturing the highest quality data; our conceptualisation of complex systems; and developing cost-effective and sustainable solutions. Join us and make a difference.
Some of your responsibilities will include
- Advising on all aspects of hydrogeology and working across UK, Ireland, and International projects
- Providing expert advice on hydrogeological conceptualisation
- Assisting with the delivery of water resources and engineering hydrogeology projects
- Preparing bids internally and externally to support growth
- Mentoring junior staff on their career development
- Developing new innovations around data and interacting with groundwater modellers
Being part of the team
The AECOM Water Environment team's portfolio of clients comes from both the public and private sectors, spread around UK, Ireland, and EMEA Region. The groundwater team supports colleagues in surface water, aquatic ecology, and hydromorphology to better conceptualise their sites.
We work on large-scale infrastructure projects, including all stages of consenting from optioneering, through environmental statements, to delivery consents. Our clients require new groundwater resources and refurbishment of existing sources to ensure their supplies, including water companies, bottled water suppliers (including some major brands), and small private support mining colleagues with their water management issues, as well as helping their moves to better sustainable practices.
We are involved in the energy transition through our work on ground source heat schemes and geothermal projects.
Qualifications
Here's what we will need from you:
- BSc Hons degree in Geology and/or Geography
- Experience working in groundwater and the water environment industry
- A relevant MSc in a practical environment-related subject
- Membership of a relevant professional body, with an aim of becoming chartered in the future
