Role Purpose

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a leadership role that combines commercial expertise with the opportunity to make a real impact on public infrastructure projects?

Scottish Borders Council is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the Quantity Surveying team within SBC Contracts. This key role is responsible for the commercial, contractual and financial management of a diverse portfolio of construction and engineering projects, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, budget and programme requirements. You will lead a team of four professionals, manage valuations, procurement, subcontractor arrangements, cost forecasting and contract administration, while supporting business development, income generation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Applicants should hold a degree in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) and have substantial experience in construction, contract management, procurement, estimation, budgeting and commercial negotiations. Strong leadership, financial management and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. This permanent 35-hour post offers hybrid working, excellent pension benefits and the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of vital infrastructure services across the Scottish Borders

 

Essential

Degree in Quantity Surveying or SVQ4 in Construction Contracting Operations (Surveying).
