The Senior Social Worker, Resettlement, sits within, Education and Families, Social Work Services. The post will be responsible for the day to day co-ordinating of the Refugee Resettlement Programme which includes the UK Resettlement Scheme, including Ukrainian Families and the Afghan Locally Employed Staff Scheme. The scheme supports the arrival and integration of families in their new lives and the challenges of becoming Scots.

The post also has lead responsibility for co-ordination of the care and resettlement of unaccompanied asylum seeking children (UASC) including those children from the National Transfer Scheme.

We are proud of our partnership working across services to improve outcomes for the families that have already settled in North Lanarkshire and we encourage innovative practice and evidence-based approaches to support our work with children, young people and families. Our partnerships within the Council and across all partner agencies are well established and are ready to support the resettlement scheme. On a daily basis you will work closely with partner organisations including the Scottish Government and COSLA.

An enthusiastic and motivated individual, you will have knowledge of current national and local developments in working with children and families as well as good communication skills, written and verbal and the ability and to work well as part of a team.  You will require strong leadership skills to lead and motivate employees to ensure a culture of effective service delivery and focus on quality outcomes are delivered. A track record of successful inter agency working, leadership skills together with knowledge of refugee integration is also essential.  

You must have a CQSW/DipSW or equivalent, along with significant post qualifying experience in Social Work and be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member prior to commencing in this role.  

Temporary post for 12 months and may be subject to review.
