Full Job Description

Key Responsibilities -

To provide strategic support and expert Human Resources and Health & Safety governance advice to Scottish Police Authority (SPA) Members, the executive team and senior officers, as part of a small professional team, in order that the obligations of the Authority are discharged efficiently and effectively.

A key focus of this role will involve supporting the Authority in respect of its workforce governance oversight function, being able to influence, support, scrutinise and, where appropriate, lead on the development and implementation of relevant initiatives, policy and practice, ensuring adherence to legislation, good practice and the delivery of best value.

This will involve working with senior internal stakeholders within Police Scotland, as well as providing advice to non-executive Members of the Authority. You will therefore be able to demonstrate an understanding of HR governance, evidence well-developed generalist professional competency (with reference to both core and specialist areas outlined within the CIPD Profession Map), the ability to communicate and influence effectively and with credibility, and to confidently build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across all levels.

A further key aspect of the role will be supporting negotiations in relation to pay and terms and conditions of service, as well as supporting effective partnership working with workforce representative bodies. Whilst a reward background would be desirable, more important will be your well-developed experience in employee relations.

Working within a small but experienced team, this role would be suitable for experienced HR Business Partners looking to develop their skillset further.

Please note, CIPD experience is essential for this opportunity.
