We're excited to announce that we're looking for a Shift Team Leader at our new energy from waste infrastructure, Port Clarence biomass facility in Teesside. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and proactive professional to join our team as a key leader. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and reliable daily operation of the plant, while effectively supervising and managing the shift operations team. Vital Energi- Port Clarence- Strategic asset ownership journey Port Clarence represents the next phase of Vital Energi's evolution from energy solutions provider to significant asset owner, processing 320,000 tonnes of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and produce over 30Mwe, this marks a substantial step-change in scale and ambition. Vital Energi will further invest in the optimisation of the Drakelow EfW plant to improve its productivity and returns, ensuring it continues to deliver robust operational and financial performance as part of the company's growing portfolio. The energy generated by both facilities will be exported back to the national grid. The Role
- Responsible for directing and supervising a team, and other personnel as directed, to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a safe and efficient manner with high housekeeping standards during duty hours.
- Ensures that the plant is operated within design limits and in accordance with the Site's environmental permit at all times.
- Directs and co-ordinates resources to meet plant and business requirements.
- Maintains and enforces company policies and procedures, environmental compliance, and safety and health requirements.
- Works with Management, Engineers and others to identify plant performance shortfalls and areas for continual improvement.
- Trains shift personnel in safety procedures and equipment use, plant operating procedures and environmental standards and compliance. Implements corporate and plant training programs and ensures continued progress in the programs by shift personnel.
- Responsible for the application, enforcement and administration of the Company Safety Rules as a Senior Authorised Person.
- Responsible for motivation and team development, conducting regular performance appraisals and talent identification, creating development plans and overseeing development through structured training program, which provides measurable improvements, succession planning and resource utilisation.
- Accountable for the completion of any investigation, grievance or disciplinary process, ensuring these
- Responsible for the timely completion of accident and equipment damage reports, approval of timesheets, and documentation of attendance, timekeeping etc.
Successful portfolio in engineering or process operations and hold the following qualifications: Degree or HND in an Engineering discipline - preferably Mechanical, Facilities, Industrial, or other disciplines related to power generation. - A minimum of 5 years progressively responsible experience in the power generation environment, to include successful experience selecting, training, and directing teams of power plant professionals.
- In-depth knowledge of welding, electrical design, maintenance, and repair issues, and knowledge of instrumentation/control issues
- Recognised SAP and/or HV switching qualifications (If not, this can be trained)
- Knowledge of Waste Duty of Care, COTC or Waste Management.
- A safety qualification, preferably IOSH or NEBOSH Applicants must have the unrestricted and ongoing right to work in the UK for the duration of employment, without the need for sponsorship.
