Shops Team Leader

We are currently seeking a Shops Team Leader to join our retail team on a permanent basis. This is a hands-on role, assisting the Shops Manager in leading a team of sales associates and visual merchandising associates in at least two retail outlets within St Andrews Links Golf Shops Limited (SALGS). The Head of Retail via the Shops Manager will provide strategic direction, set out in annual plans, to include sales targets and quality measures. The successful candidate will be passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience to our visitors and golfers in a fast-paced environment, be self-motivated, committed and have experience within the Retail Industry.

The candidate will be responsible for;

• Assisting the Shops Manager in providing quality line management to the team of Sales Associates and visual merchandising associates; enabling their engagement and promoting their performance across the breadth of their role.


• Assisting the Shops Manager to Implement and monitor KPIs set out and agreed upon with the Shops Manager for self, sales associates and visual merchandising associates. To achieve all sales targets, ATV, conversion rate, daily targets, knowledgeable on data system reporting, team briefs, stock takes, stock checks, weekly functional reports, orders and induction of new staff.


• Knowledgeable on time tracking software systems


• Confident in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint


• Assist in workforce plans to meet operational needs, customer demand and in line with financial budgets


• Communicate service standards with confidence and consistency to deliver unique and memorable experiences for all our customers and ensure these standards are always met


• Ensure all team members are aware of, and play their part in achieving sales targets, ATV and conversion rates.


• Ensuring the team deliver on merchandise standards within each retail outlet


• Assisting the Shops Manager to instil a sense of responsibility in every team member, to play their part in ensuring visual merchandising is of the highest standards at all times, and drives customer choices to meet sales targets and quality of experience


• Have extensive product knowledge to train colleagues and enhance the customer experience


• Ensure stock rotation and stock control processes are accurate and consistent to maximise sales at all times


• Assist the Shops Manager with the training of all staff on till systems, product knowledge, visual merchandising, customer service and all company policies, etc.


• Be proactive in sharing open and honest feedback and observations with the Shops Manager so we consistently deliver exceptional customer and colleague experiences and turn these into practical suggestions to support continuous improvements


• To be proficient in cash handling/banking procedures


• Adherence to the Trust's Health and Safety policy and procedures.


• Develop the visual merchandise plan for every quarter and empower the team to deliver, whilst consistently monitoring performance and providing constructive feedback.


• Weekly check-ins with all staff to monitor health and well-being as well as performance.


• Any other duties that may be required.
