Site Manager – Fit-Out & Refurbishment
Location: Edinburgh
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: Competitive, DOE
The Role
An established construction contractor specialising in commercial fit-out, refurbishment and bespoke joinery projects is looking to recruit an experienced Site Manager.
The Site Manager will take day-to-day responsibility for the safe and efficient running of construction sites, coordinating subcontractors, direct labour, materials and site activities to ensure projects are delivered to programme and to a high standard.
The role would suit a hands-on Site Manager with a strong background in refurbishment, fit-out, interiors or joinery who takes pride in delivering quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of construction sites.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, direct labour and suppliers.
- Manage works against the agreed construction programme.
- Ensure works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship across the site.
- Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and daily briefings as required.
- Ensure compliance with company health & safety procedures and current legislation.
- Maintain accurate site records, diaries and progress information.
- Coordinate deliveries, materials and site logistics.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and productivity.
- Identify potential programme or construction issues and report these to the Project Manager.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and other stakeholders on site.
- Manage snagging and ensure defects are closed out promptly.
- Coordinate specialist joinery installation and finishing packages where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and professional site environment.
- Support successful project completion and handover.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
- Experience within commercial fit-out, refurbishment, interiors and/or joinery projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and sequencing.
- Excellent organisational and site coordination skills.
- The ability to effectively manage subcontractors and trades.
- A strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Good communication and client-facing skills.
- A thorough understanding of construction health & safety.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS.
- First Aid certification would be advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
The Opportunity

The successful candidate will have considerable responsibility for the delivery of projects on site and will work closely with experienced Project Managers and the wider operational team.
