Based at children's residential houses on a rota basis including early, late and night shifts you will work as and when required. When work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation on the Children and Families Service to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. You will have 3 National 4s, or equivalent and will have the ability to undertake HNC and SVQ3 or any other relevant qualification which provides evidence of academic achievement equivalent to or above SCQF Level 7.Responsibilities
You will assist in the creation and maintenance of a high quality care environment in which children and young people are are safe, secure and nurtured to grow. You will to help children and young people to make use of services and information as appropriate to their full advantage and to assist in the promotion of trauma informed support.The Individual
We are looking for people who bring kindness, resilience, and a commitment to helping young people thrive, including young people with additional needs. We would love to hear from you if you: - You will be able to undertake additional child specific training as required - Have experience working with children, young people, families, or carers - Have experience supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those who have experienced trauma - Have the ability to work as part of a team to meet young people’s social, emotional, and health needs - Have good written and verbal communication skills - Have the ability to undertake CALM training - Have flexibility to work a three‑shift system, including waking nights - Can work effectively within a team and contribute positively to a shared environment - Are reliable, organised, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively - Have a strong commitment to providing high‑quality care and maintaining a positive attendance record. Experience within a residential setting is desirable but not essential — what matters most is your attitude, your values, and your willingness to learn. You will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within a specified timescale. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.Direct job link
