Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Social Worker to join the Justice Social Work Groupwork Services Team. Groupwork Services is a Fife wide team who deliver accredited programmes aimed to address offending behaviour. This includes the MF:MC/MF2C Groupwork Programme for men convicted of sexual offences, the Caledonian Groupwork Programme for men convicted of domestic abuse offences, and the Road Traffic Group.

Groupwork Services write all Justice Social Work Reports for men convicted of sexual offences throughout Fife.

The Groupwork Team is a very supportive team made up of Senior Practitioners, Social Workers, Social Work Assistants, Caledonian Women's Workers and a Caledonian Children's Worker.

It would be desirable but not essential to have experience of facilitating groupwork programmes and have experience in Justice Social Work. Knowledge of the Caledonian System would be advantageous, along with training in the relevant risk assessment tools e.g. Level of Service/Case and experience of Management Inventory; Risk Matrix 2000, Stable and Acute 2007, Spousal Assault Risk Assessment. However, a full range of training and support will be provided.

The team is based in the Town House, Kirkcaldy. Working days are Monday to Friday, with a requirement to work one late night per week depending on the groups that are running.

The Person

You must be a qualified, and registered Social Worker.

You should have a belief in people's ability to change and be able to form good working relationships.

Groupwork programmes are recorded, and you will receive and give feedback to other facilitators in a safe and constructive manner.

You should be confident in your communication skills, both verbal and written, as you will prepare reports for other agencies including the Scottish Courts, MAPPA and MARAC.

You will receive appropriate training to allow you to assess the suitability of potential participants for the Moving Forward: Making Changes (MF:MC/MF2C) and the Caledonian Programme and undertake offender risk assessments and associated liaison tasks with Police and Social Work colleagues.

You will support Fife Council's role in relation to Sex Offender legislation and associated guidance and to provide services related to the risk assessment and management of sexual offenders, and support Fife Council's role in the management of perpetrators of domestic abuse.

The team works Fife wide and require to visits prisons throughout Scotland.

If not already registered, you are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of taking up employment of this role and to complete the required post registration training and learning (PRTL) over the registration period.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.,
