The Software Engineer will develop and maintain high-quality web applications using PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, and other relevant technologies, collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement new features and enhancements.  The Software Engineer will write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to coding standards and perform thorough testing and debugging to ensure the functionality and performance of applications.   They will also troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to Linux administration and containers and ensure application security and implement best practices to protect sensitive data.   The Software Engineer will be required to stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and continuously improve their skills.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience as a Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on PHP, Laravel and Vue.js or other object-oriented programming languages.   You will have an understanding of and implementation of SOLID principals, Linux administration, including server set up and maintenance.   You will have knowledge of docker and orchestration tools and relational databases such as MySQL and proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries.

The successful candidate will have experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks like Vue.JS as well as an understanding of code versioning tools, such a Git.

You will be able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment and have excellent problem-solving, analytical skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Full time hours will be 35 hours per week Monday to Friday. However, you may be required to undertake work outwith this norm to meet the responsibilities of the post.

Whilst you will be based at 131 St Vincent Street, Glasgow, SPT operate a hybrid working pattern which allows 40% home working (i.e. 2 days per week Monday to Friday).
