Full Job Description
We are looking for a Software (Test) Engineer with a passion for Quality, Automation (Infrastructure, Testing, Deployment) and Cloud Technologies, with good professional software testing methodology experience. The ideal candidate could have a significant impact in shaping our processes and direction in the BBC Images team., At the BBC we are passionate about supporting you to be the best Engineer that you can be. We understand that it might take you some time to get up to speed and learn our business and technical domain, and team processes. You will join a team who are keen on collaboration and will guide you over the first weeks and months as you settle into the role. You will be working in a cross-discipline team, collaborating with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager, Delivery Manager, Architect, BA/UX and Engineers to deliver robust, quality software. Over you first year, your focus and responsibilities will grow and develop. In the first 3 months you will be:
- Learning the BBC Images technical and business domain.
- Getting up to speed with our products and testing frameworks.
- Collaborating on ticketed work, taking part in planning, refinement sessions and retrospectives. At 3-6 months you will be:
- Taking technical ownership of larger pieces of work, and providing valued input into design, planning and estimation.
- Picking up in-hours production support issues.
- Mentoring and supporting our team of developers. Beyond these responsibilities you will have time to focus on self-development, through Innovation Time (10%) and extensive training opportunities (via the BBC Academy).,

- "JSESSIONID" is placed on the visitor's device during the session so the server can identify the visitor
- "Load balancer cookie" (actual cookie name may vary) prevents a visitor from bouncing from one instance to another
API Testing / Front End Testing. - Automated and Manual testing. - Integrating Test Automation with CI/CD pipelines. - A desire to define and implement good testing practices. - Cloud technologies The technologies we use are (ideally you would be experienced some or all): - Playwright / Cypress testing frameworks - Javascript / Typescript - Amazon Web Services (AWS) Before your start date, you may need to disclose any unspent convictions or police charges, in line with our Contracts of Employment policy.
