We are looking to recruit a Support for Learning Assistant (Grade E) which is a provision for children with severe and complex additional support needs within Carrongrange High School.
You will provide support for teachers and pupils to enhance pupil well-being, engagement and achievement. Undertake a range of whole school support activities and pupil support with regard to pupils’ complex healthcare needs, language and communication needs, as well as general supervision and safety for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or physical impairment.
Good communication skills are essential and the role will require supporting children with severe and complex additional support needs. You should enjoy working as part of a team. Experience in this sector is not always required, but we look forward to welcoming people who are nurturing, loving and patient. Extensive training will be provided throughout your time here.
You will work 27.5 hours per week on a term time basis. Your working pattern will be Mon-Fri 8.45 – 3.15pm. Please see important information below regarding the salary.

Term-Time Salary Calculation
This document explains how the actual salary is calculated for a term-time only role and shows the annual salary & hourly rate for the lowest and highest points on the Grade E scale.
Key Information
- The Salary shown on the Advert is based on a full time post e.g. 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
- For this post employees work 39 weeks per year.
- Employees are paid for between 44.9 and 46.3 weeks per year, depending on length of service.
- Salary is annualised and paid in 12 equal monthly instalments.
SCP 30 = £18,301.40 - £14.83 per hour
SCP 36 = £20274.81 - £15.93 per hour
This reflects term-time working with annualised pay and includes paid holiday entitlement.
If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership, the cost of which will be met by the preferred candidate.
