Full Job Description
The post is a permanent full time Teacher of Computing or Creative Digital Industries and part of the Technologies faculty. There are currently 7 teachers in the faculty, including the PT., Subject to the policies of the school and the education authority the duties of teachers, promoted and unpromoted, are to perform such tasks as the Head Teacher shall direct having reasonable regard to overall teacher workload related to the following categories-
Teaching assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction
Developing the school curriculum
Assessing, recording and reporting on the work of pupils
Preparing pupils for examinations and assisting with their administration
Providing advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education
Promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of pupils
Working in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals
Undertaking appropriate and agreed continuing professional development
Participating in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review
Registered with GTCS as a teacher of relevant subject
Dunbar Grammar is a six-year, fully inclusive, comprehensive, non-denominational and co-educational school. It serves the town of Dunbar and the surrounding area. It is one of seven secondary schools in East Lothian.
The present building was opened in 1961 and is situated in an attractive site in the centre of Dunbar. It has spacious playground areas and a games field within the school grounds.
The school is fully equipped for disabled access.
The school has been completely redeveloped as part of East Lothian Council's Private and Public Partnership scheme and as a result boasts excellent facilities, including a Games Hall, Fitness Room, Drama Studio and Recording Studio.
The associated primary schools are Dunbar PS, West Barn's PS, Stenton PS, Innerwick PS and East Linton PS.
The school roll is 1,086 and the present teaching complement is around 90.
