Full Job Description
Technology & Workplace Operations Manager (6 months Fixed Term Contract)
Based: Edinburgh
The Scottish National Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Technology & Workplace Operations Manager to strengthen the operational delivery, governance and continual improvement of our Technology and Workplace Services.
Reporting to the Director of IT & Facilities, you will bring structure, coordination and pace to a broad portfolio of operational activity. Working within a small internal team supported by outsourced service providers, you will maintain oversight of day-to-day services, ensure actions and issues are driven through to completion, and help embed clear and sustainable operating practices.
This is a hands-on delivery role spanning service governance, operational reporting, supplier management, risk and control remediation, and operational resilience. You will connect colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders, translating priorities into clear plans, ownership and measurable progress.
We welcome applications from candidates who believe they can excel in this role, even if you do not meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and perspectives and encourage applications from all backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate day-to-day operational activity across Technology and Workplace Services, maintaining clear priorities, ownership and delivery.
- Act as the operational lead for workplace, facilities and building-related service providers, ensuring issues and commitments are managed through to resolution.
- Coordinate and track service issues, escalations, operational actions and improvement initiatives, working with internal stakeholders and outsourced service providers.
- Produce clear operational, governance and management information to support oversight, decision-making and performance improvement.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures, service documentation, service catalogues, ownership arrangements and supporting control evidence.
- Support effective service management practices, including incident, problem, change, request and service-review processes.
- Monitor supplier performance and commitments through structured service reviews, action tracking and proportionate escalation.
- Coordinate the remediation of audit, risk and control actions, supporting the continued development of operational resilience and business continuity arrangements.
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes, strengthen controls and reduce operational, governance and process debt.
- Build effective relationships across the Bank, influencing stakeholders and driving delivery without relying on formal authority.
Key Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience coordinating Technology, Workplace or supplier-managed services within a complex organisation.
- Proven organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to maintain oversight of multiple activities, dependencies and deadlines.
- Experience managing suppliers, service commitments, actions and escalations through to completion.
- Ability to develop clear, practical operational procedures, documentation and governance arrangements.
- Good understanding of service management, service governance and continual improvement principles.
- Experience supporting the remediation of operational risks, control weaknesses or audit actions.
- Ability to produce clear, concise management information and governance reporting for senior stakeholders.
- Stakeholder-management skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge constructively and establish accountability.
- A proactive and practical approach, with the ability to work independently and deliver in a small, fast-moving team.
- Experience in a regulated, financial-services or public-sector environment would be advantageous, as would exposure to Microsoft 365, SaaS, outsourced technology services, workplace services, facilities management or operational resilience.
What We Offer
At the Scottish National Investment Bank, we offer a supportive culture that values your expertise and autonomy, encourages continuous learning, and provides opportunities for meaningful work. The salary range is £52-61k, depending on experience, with additional benefits including 30 days annual leave plus public holidays, a 12% non-contributory pension, volunteer days, and more. We operate a hybrid working model and are open to discussing flexible working patterns.
If you are eligible under the Disability Confident Scheme or need any adjustments to support your application, please reach out to us. We are committed to providing the support needed for you to participate fully in our recruitment process.
