Waste & Recycling Advisor (Temporary)
Glasgow
17.99 per hour
35 hours per week
4 on, 4 off shift pattern | 07:00 - 18:00
Your New Company
Hays are delighted to be supporting a local authority partner in the recruitment of a temporary Waste & Recycling Advisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy operational team responsible for supporting the delivery of waste, recycling and environmental services across the local community.
Your New Role
As a Waste & Recycling Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting waste and recycling initiatives, engaging with residents and stakeholders, and helping to improve participation in recycling services.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the implementation of waste, recycling and operational service initiatives.
- Engaging with members of the public, businesses, schools and community groups to promote recycling and environmental best practice.
- Investigating service enquiries and complaints and updating CRM systems accordingly.
- Monitoring service performance and assisting with the preparation of reports and data analysis.
- Conducting recycling contamination checks and waste audits.
- Identifying opportunities to improve recycling participation and resolving practical issues faced by residents.
- Monitoring collection routes and assisting with service improvements.
- Working closely with internal departments, housing associations and community partners to support service delivery.
- Attending local events, forums and awareness campaigns as required.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Experience working with members of the public in a customer-facing environment.
- The ability to handle enquiries, complaints and sensitive conversations professionally.
- Good administrative and IT skills, including experience updating databases or CRM systems.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and community engagement.
- A full driving licence would be advantageous.
