Trainee Childcare Assistant

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and caring individual to join a team within an early years establishment as a Trainee Childcare Assistant while working towards a recognised qualification in Early Learning and Childcare.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and would like to "Earn while they Learn" gaining valuable hands on experience alongside structured training and support.

As a Trainee Childcare Assistant, you will work as part of a friendly and supportive nursery team, helping to provide a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where children can learn, play and develop.

Your day to day role will include supporting children's play and learning, helping to plan and take part in fun engaging activities, building positive relationships with children and families, and supporting children's individual needs, routines and well-being.

You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by experienced nursery staff and your dedicated assessor from Azilo Training, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed for a rewarding career in Early Learning and Childcare.

This is a full time position, working Mon - Fri ( 7.30 am to 6 pm) 40 hours a week

Communicating effectively with children, families and colleagues

Supporting children's individual needs, choice and interests

Promoting inclusion, equality and children's rights

Understanding safeguarding and child protection responsibilities

Supporting children's health, safety and well-being

Observing children's learning and development

Working effectively as part of an Early Learning and Childcare team

Developing confidence, communication, organisation and professional skills

Understanding the professional standards and responsibilities of working within the childcare sector in Scotland

What qualifications or qualities are required? You don't need to know everything about childcare before you start - That's what your apprenticeship is for !

Willing to take responsibility and work towards a recognised childcare qualification

Previous experience of working with children can be helpful but is not essential. Experience gained through school, volunteering, babysitting, caring for younger family members, clubs or community activities may all help demonstrate your interest in this role

Applicants should be willing and be able to undertake the learning and assessment required as part of the Modern Apprenticeship

The successful applicant will be required to meet the appropriate requirements for working with children, including PVG Scheme membership
