Trainee Civil Engineering Technician

Job purpose: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well established and growing consultant engineering practice in the position of Trainee Civil Engineering Technician working alongside our team of technicians and engineers in our Dingwall office. Wallace Stone work across all Civil Engineering disciples, although primarily in the marine discipline.

The role requires a mature outlook to both learning within the workplace and a strong commitment to undertaking a CoHE in Civil Engineering (equivalent of HNC) on a block release basis at UHI. Ideally suited to school leavers, applications from more mature individuals will be encouraged for this position.

What will I learn? You’ll work alongside experienced technicians who’ll support and encourage your development, while studying towards a Certificate of Higher Education in Civil Engineering at the University of the Highlands & Islands.

Main Duties will include;

· Assisting the senior technicians in producing drawings using the Autodesk Suite

· Adhering to the company quality assurance procedures

· Assisting in site surveys

· Reinforced concrete detailing

· Liasing with Project Managers/Engineers.

What qualifications or qualities are required? Preferred: 3 Highers, including Maths. We also welcome applications from candidates who do not quite meet these preferred qualifications. Successful applicants in this position without the preferred qualifications can still join the training programme, although would require an additional 18 months of training to support them in reaching the required level.
