Full Job Description
Founded in 1978, Clark Contracts is a privately owned main contractor with several operating divisions; Construction, Fit Out, Refurbishment, Housing, and Maintenance. We employ over 280 people with offices in the East and West of Scotland.
As part of our 2026 Trainee Recruitment intake we are looking to recruit a Trainee Planner.
Role & Responsibilites:
- Assist in Creating Tender Programmes and Schedules: Learn to use tools like Microsoft Project and/or Asta to support the creation of tender programmes and project schedules, with supervision and training.
- Maintain and Process Team Information: Help collect, organise, and manage information from team members, ensuring it follows a controlled process, under the mentorship of senior staff.
- Monitor Project Progress: Assist in tracking the progress of live sites and pre-construction phases by updating logs, attending meetings, and learning to use progress evaluation tools.
- Learn and Apply Planning Standards: Gain knowledge of agreed planning standards and assist in applying them with oversight from experienced team members.
- Support in Cause & Effect Analysis: Learn how to prepare Cause & Effect Programmes by observing and assisting with their creation to understand delay positions.
- Assist with Mitigation Programmes: Contribute to the development of mitigation programmes by supporting senior staff and learning the principles behind them.
- Liaise with the Supply Chain: Help communicate with critical members of the supply chain to understand the process of producing accurate timescales and logic under supervision.
- Support the Bid Programme Process: Assist in collating information and managing the Bid Programme, contributing to the development of bid responses that meet and exceed client expectations.
Candidate:
- Have a willingness to learn
- Be able to demonstrate excellent time management skills
- Have strong IT Skills
- Have excellent communication skills and be capable of multi-tasking
- Be adaptable to change within a fast-paced environment
- Have the ability work both as part of a team and by using their own initiative
