Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to join our friendly team at our Minworth site on a full-time permanent basis!
Salary: £30,690 per annum
Working hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm
As a Transport Planner, you will oversee the day-to-day planning of the transport operation. A highly motivated and driven individual, you will be experienced at working in a busy transport department, able to deal with day-to-day challenges and provide cost-effective solutions to the customer.
Key Duties of a Transport Planner
- Subcontracting and planning orders out of multiple warehouse facilities and manufacturing sites across the UK.
- Planning daily workload for fleet: vehicles based on and off-site.
- Dealing with queries and issues by telephone, fax, and email from customers, sub-contract hauliers, and warehousing sites.
- Liaising with Traffic and Administration teams to ensure high standards of performance.
- Maintaining, creating, and updating spreadsheets and databases for customer reports.
- Reporting problems and resolving issues or queries that arise.
- Supporting the fleet and driver training team as needed.
- Completing pre- and post-de-briefs for all driver shifts.
- Delivering effective, professional, and timely communication both internally and externally.
Qualifications
Be able to demonstrate a high level of transport planning expertise in a busy and demanding environment. Have excellent problem solving, analytical, and organisational skills. Be able to make decisions under pressure and within tight timescales. Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working to meet business needs, particularly during peak periods. Be able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization. Have the ability to identify and suggest improvements for the benefit of the company and customers. Be a highly motivated individual able to work independently and as part of a small team. Knowledge of SAP, BPCS, and Road Runner would be advantageous.
