Full Job Description

We require an individual to join our team of Ward Clerks within the Acute Services Medical Directorate, providing efficient and effective support to our busy Wards and Departments. This involves working within a busy reception area, dealing with a large volume of telephone calls received and moving and handling and electronic tracking of patient case notes on a daily basis. You will also be required to update activity within our electronic Patient Administration System appropriately, whilst providing administrative and clerical support to the Senior Charge Nurse(s) and team(s) with general clerical duties relating to day-to-day Ward/Department administration.

Relevant admin / clerical and reception experience is required, as is the ability to prioritise and deal with the day-to-day workload in a busy Health Service environment.  A level of English language competency and communication skills necessary to perform this role safely and effectively is required.

Please note the salary for this post is pro rata to part time hours.

Applications on a secondment basis will be considered providing you have prior agreement from your current line manager.

For informal enquiries, please contact Kerry Thomson, Admin & Secretarial Services Manager, Emergency Care Directorate on  extension 21386.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period, for which you would be paid, until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Hiring Manager.
