Reporting to the Waste and Recycling Manager within Environment, Housing, and Infrastructure, you will make a major contribution to continually improving service development and delivery. You will support on the ongoing development and delivery of the Council’s Waste Services.

The postholder will support the Waste and Recycling Manager in ensuring the council is fully conversant with the wider national/international recycling agenda and will lead the development of relationships with key external partners.

This position is critical for driving improvement of the council’s waste and recycling services as well as the continuous improvement of the Household Waste Recycling Centres.

Supporting the Waste and Recycling Manager, you will be responsible for the direct management and delivery of the Council’s refuse collection and disposal services.

The post-holder will manage a variety of complex functions and covering a very broad range of topics, including (but not limited to):

Ongoing implementation of new systems within Operations & Service Development

• Development of workforce to support priorities of the service.
• Development of collaborative and supportive culture.
• Management of the Household Recycling Centres and Staffing of these.

It is essential you have experience of waste services within a large and diverse organisation, experience of managing people within a large Unionised Environment, experience of delivering frontline operational services and managing household waste recycling centres and the ability to formulate and implement operational plans within a large and complex organisation.

You must also have a proven track record in financial management, Knowledge of the statutory and legislative requirements of the service and relevant national and local programmes and frameworks and effective verbal communication, presentation, networking, regulatory, influencing, and motivational skills.

It is also essential that you are educated to Degree level or relevant appropriate professional experience and a full driving licence.

Membership of appropriate professional organization, IOSH Managing Safely or similar , CPC National and WAMITAB Level 4 are desirable.
