An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Working Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of a youngstock enterprise based in Southwest Scotland.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for the management of 1200-head youngstock, overseeing all aspects of calf and heifer rearing from the arrival of newborn calves through to in-calf replacement heifers.

This is a hands-on position requiring someone with strong livestock husbandry skills, excellent organisational ability and the confidence to work within and lead a small team.

Key Responsibilities:-

Overall management of the youngstock unit.
Care and supervision of approx 400 calves on milk, reared using an automatic calf feeding system.
Monitoring calf health, welfare and performance.
Managing the transition from calves through to breeding-age heifers.
Ensuring replacement heifers meet growth and fertility targets.
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with farm protocols.
Working closely with veterinary advisers and the wider farm team.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have ;-

Good livestock handling and husbandry skills.
Experience working with calves and youngstock; previous management experience would be advantageous.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Good communication and people skills.
The ability to work effectively within a small team environment.
