Job purpose: About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Modern Apprentice to join our busy and friendly GP practice in Portobello, Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent school or college leaver to gain valuable workplace experience while working towards a recognised qualification in Business Administration.

As part of the practice team, you will provide administrative and reception support to patients, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. No previous experience is required as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

Welcoming patients and visitors to the surgery in a professional and friendly manner.

Answering telephone calls and directing enquiries appropriately.

Booking, amending and cancelling patient appointments.

Maintaining accurate patient records and updating information on clinical systems.

Processing incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Supporting the administration team with filing, scanning and general office duties.

Assisting with repeat prescription requests and other routine administrative tasks.

Ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Learning and developing new skills through on-the-job training and apprenticeship coursework.
