What is the Job Function?

Joining our long-established maintenance team primarily based on our 24/7 multi-function campus you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the physical environment of our properties. You will be responsible for a variety of joinery tasks, contributing to creating a comfortable and secure home for the young people we care for.

Main Duties:

The postholder will be required to:

Carry out a range of joinery works, to include all aspects of repair, replacement and creation of fixtures and other items and products.
Provide a design service, where appropriate.
Estimate materials required to complete tasks.
Cost works as appropriate
Maintain an inventory of stocks of timber and all associated materials
Liaise with management regarding purchase of appropriate tools and equipment.
Maintain an awareness of all health and safety rules applying to all decorating work and tools and equipment used to ensure that safe working practices are observed.
Maintain a commitment to continue developing own skills, attending further training as appropriate.
Provide work experience opportunities for young people as required.
Undertake any other reasonable task as required by the management team or other senior member of staff to support the Trade Centre in ensuring the overall running of the Centre by dealing with any contingencies as they arise.
Conduct regular maintenance checks and repairs to ensure all fixtures and structures are safe and in good condition.
Engage with young people in a respectful and understanding manner, being mindful of the sensitive environment.

What qualifications, skills & experience are we looking for?

Fully experienced in all aspects of the trade
Time Served & City & Guilds qualified (or equivalent)
Experience of working with apprentices is desirable
Willingness to engage with young people
Ability to multi-task and work on own initiative
A full UK driving licence is essential for this post.
As the job can be physically demanding, the postholder should have a good level of general fitness.
