An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Officer to join Zero Waste Scotland. This role will play an important part in raising the profile of the organisation, communicating the organisations role in a changing landscape, and telling its story to a wide ranging audience - political, business and consumer.

We want you if;

You are an experienced communications professional with good working knowledge and experience of delivering and supporting digital communications strategies,content and channels. Experience of creaing inspiring,versatile and engaging content for different audiences across a variety of platforms is essential for this role. You should have a basic understanding of HTML 5, CSS3 and other digital communications technologies alongside strong communication skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively.

What you'll be doing;

This role will support the delivery of effective and engaging content around Zero Waste Scotland's priorities and activities; supporting digital projects and content strategies for a range of channels, including research and opportunity analysis, through to delivery and analytics to deliver world class content that reaches core and new audiences.

As part of the digital team the postholder will work collabortaively with the wider communications team to support the delivery of multichannel communications plans, combining owned, earned, paid and shared media.

Some of the key responsibilties of this role will be:

• Supporting and contributing to PR, media and digital communications projects under the direction of the Communications Leads for Media & PR and Digital, incorporating a range of platforms and channels.

• Working with internal colleagues, external partners, and stakeholders, including the Scottish Government, as appropriate to coordinate the development of PR & digital communications, project outputs, and raise the profile of Zero Waste Scotland key messages and programmes.

• Creating high-quality content to deliver projects and maximise the impact of messages, tailored to audiences spanning consumer, business and political, using a range of channels as appropriate.

• Supporting activities across the team such as: copywriting for press releases, articles and other forms of public relations resources; social media content; web articles; arranging photo calls and other PR events to support the communication of Zero Waste Scotland’s work.
