About the Assistant Producer role:

Collaborating with a creative team, you will be delivering impactful and engaging, brand-aligned, film, video and audio content for web and socials. You will support the in-house production of film, video, and audio content that will be shared with our online audience of over 3.5M people.

With audiences and accessibility at the forefront of your approach, the content you produce will celebrate and deepen understandings of our collection, promote the exhibition and events programme, engage Members, and Patrons and support museum visitors.

As Assistant Producer at National Museums Scotland you will:

Support the production of impactful film, audio, and interactive digital content published across National Museums Scotland’s digital channels which respond to audience needs and deliver against organisational objectives
Execute delegated digital content production tasks including delivering briefs as a self-shooter, producing cinematic compositions while operating mirrorless cameras, supporting the setup of 3-point lighting for interview, drafting and signing off of internal digital content briefs
Adhere to and support the upkeep of good practice guidelines for digital file formats, ongoing management and data storage, and advise on equipment usage and purchase
Keep up to date with production trends technically (new cameras, plugins, editing workflows) and different ways of storytelling

Skills and experience we’re looking for in our Assistant Producer:

Technical knowledge of film and audio content production – including set lighting, audio recording, camera operation, editing workflows, editing softwares – that support the delivery digital content of an excellent standard
Experience of brief editing, storyboarding, and visual design
Experience of delivering tasks to brief and to deadline
Demonstrable understanding of the current digital communications environment
Demonstrable experience of film, video, photographic, and audio production, including filming, lighting and sound recording
Demonstrable experience of video post-production processes including editing, sound and encoding for delivery
Experience of delivering a broad range of digital content for public audiences
