Quantity Surveyor | Put Your Commercial Expertise to Work

Ready for a Quantity Surveyor role where you're trusted to contribute, make decisions and see the impact of your work?

Our client is a growing construction contractor looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the commercial success of its commercial and residential projects.

If you enjoy the challenge of pricing work accurately, negotiating competitive deals, managing project costs and building strong professional relationships, this could be an excellent next step.

You'll be involved from tender through to final account, giving you the opportunity to use your experience across the full commercial lifecycle rather than being limited to one narrow area of Quantity Surveying.

What makes this opportunity attractive:

Genuine commercial influence: Your decisions and recommendations will help determine project costs, margins and financial performance.
Variety and involvement: Enjoy a broad role covering estimating, procurement, valuations, variations and commercial management.
Meaningful responsibility: Take ownership of important commercial activities and contribute directly to project success.
Professional relationships: Work with clients, architects, suppliers, subcontractors and project teams.
A growing business: Join a contractor where experienced commercial and residential professionals have an important part to play in future success.
The chance to use your expertise: Bring your knowledge, ideas and practical experience to commercial challenges that matter.

Your Role

Working across construction projects, you'll be responsible for:

Preparing detailed project estimates and competitive tender submissions.
Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and project documentation.
Obtaining, evaluating and negotiating supplier and subcontractor quotations.
Managing project costs, valuations, forecasts and commercial reporting.
Pricing, negotiating and agreeing variations.
Supporting contract administration, financial control and final accounts.
Identifying commercial risks, cost savings and opportunities to improve project profitability.
Building strong working relationships and supporting safe, successful project delivery.

What you'll bring:

Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role within construction.
A sound understanding of construction contracts and commercial processes.
Experience with estimating, tendering, procurement or project cost management.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of variations, valuations and commercial reporting.
Proficiency in Excel and relevant estimating or commercial management software.
The ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers and project colleagues.

Our client is interested in practical experience and demonstrable ability, so if your background were not a perfect match for every aspect of the role, they would still encourage you to apply.

Could this be your next career move?

If you'd welcome the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful commercial or residential work, develop valuable working relationships and contribute to a growing construction business, our client would love to hear from you.

Applying includes a short online recruitment process, taking approximately 10 minutes. This helps our client understand your relevant experience and gives both sides a better opportunity to decide whether the position is a good fit.
