Full Job Description

Change is inevitable and necessary for growth; we are looking for someone who is keen to be at the forefront of a new way of working and eager for change.

Wigtownshire Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) provide secondary care community mental health support and treatment to the people in the west of our region. Traditionally a very medical nursing focussed model of care, we are eager to move forward into a more multidisciplinary, advanced practitioner led model. Following service redesign we have released funding to enhance our team with a senior clinical pharmacist; an independent prescriber with a special interest and, ideally, experience in mental health pharmaceutical care.

You will be our regions second CMHT- based pharmacist and supported by a growing clinical pharmacy team within the mental health directorate. We will be looking for you to work with the CMHT to develop the service model that fits for the people in Wigtownshire. This is likely to include, but is by no means limited to polypharmacy medication reviews, caseload development, education and training, medicines information, developing links with the pharmacy community in the local area, and providing support and clinical leadership within the CMHT.

You should be a GPhC registered independent prescribing pharmacist who is confident, enthusiastic, self-motivated, and passionate about person-centred care. You must be able to work autonomously as well as be a team player and have excellent communication skills.  We will offer training and development and support you to enhance skills across the pillars of the pharmacy advanced practice framework, leading to credentialing, as appropriate.

This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Wigtownshire and the CMHT to benefit from everything a clinical pharmacist can bring to the MDT, but also for you to mould the future of advanced practice working in a CMHT. Although the post is advertised as full time; lower total working hours for the post can be negotiated, and we will support a hybrid working model if desired.

Applicants from all pharmacy sectors are encouraged.
