Full Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to lead our dynamic Medicine of the Elderly physiotherapy team, to cover a period of maternity leave. You will be responsible for 3 wards within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Candidates must display evidence of excellent clinical reasoning skills within the Medicine of the Elderly and frailty population, as well as demonstrating an advanced ability to prioritise and discharge plan for this patient population. You will have experience in service development to support a very proactive team who are also involved in various Quality Improvement projects currently.

Candidates must demonstrate leadership skills to provide effective management for a team of static and rotational Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Support Workers who provide a seamless service to patients within the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh site.

As Physiotherapy team lead in this Medicine of The Elderly Service you will also work collaboratively with an established group of Band 7 clinical team lead physiotherapists across a range of organisational and professional topics as required by the service and as delegated from head of service. This will ensure an equitable service is provided across the hospital site.

You will also participate clinically in the emergency duty weekend working rota, which operates on a 5/7 day working principle. Further to this you will participate in the overnight on call rota.

The post holder will work collaboratively with members of the Medicine of the Elderly MDT and actively participate in Quality Improvement work, service development and clinical improvement within the unit.

The range of conditions and specialities encountered, and requirement for excellence in leadership and team working in this post at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive and in-depth experience as a clinical band 7 physiotherapist.

Physiotherapy Services support staff development through appraisal processes, supervision and CPD opportunities.
