Locum Consultant Anaesthetist

Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

40 Hours Fixed Term 11 months

Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practice and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.  


Applications are welcome for the above Fixed Term, full time (40 hours per week) post based in Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh


Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. This is an opportunity to join an enthusiastic and dynamic department with a wide range of specialties on offer. The post is available immediately and has arisen due to maternity leave.


You will have completed, or be close to completing your training in Anaesthesia. The post is general in nature, but efforts will be made to include an area of interest to the successful applicant. Sub-specialty interests in Neuro, Obstetric, Trauma, Vascular anaesthesia or Pain medicine will be particularly welcome. The post is full time with 9 direct clinical care programmed activities and 1 supporting professional activity.  The final job plan will be agreed with the successful candidate.


The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has a large anaesthetic department that has close links with the University of Edinburgh Department of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. As a result, a range of opportunities exist for teaching, research and quality improvement work.


Edinburgh is a fantastic, vibrant city with a wide range of cultural and leisure pursuits available. Out with the centre, there is easy access to the beautiful surrounding countryside and coastline.
