Specialist Pharmacist Aseptic Dispensing / Clinical

Band 7

Permanent (1.0 WTE 37 hours)

£40,872 - £47,846

(with weekend, public holiday and oncall commitment)

NHS Lothian covers Edinburgh city, East Lothian, Midlothian and West Lothian. We are the second largest health system in NHS Scotland and one of only four teaching Boards. We have strategic partnerships with local Universities, Local Authorities and our four Integration Joint Boards. We serve a population of 900,000, providing a range of primary, community based and acute hospital services. We also provide regional and national services across a range of clinical specialties.

The vision for the Pharmacy & Medicines service is to deliver clinically led, person-centred services to ensure patients across Lothian get the best from their medicines and pharmacy services.  We are focussed on creating an environment where each person in the team has the opportunity to flourish, develop and make best use of their skills.

The Edinburgh Cancer Centre (ECC) provides specialist cancer services for the South East of Scotland Cancer Network, treating oncology and haematology patients within pharmacist day-case, OPD and in-patient settings.  It is a specialist tertiary referral centre for a number of rarer cancers, and has a teenage and young adult unit. The ECC has a broad research portfolio and participates in a wide range of cancer clinical trials. You will join a supportive pharmacy team, committed to the development of services to cancer patients.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist to join the pharmacy team delivering high quality pharmacy services across these areas.  This post holder will be the joint Deputy Accountable Pharmacist for the Aseptic Unit in ECC, working closely with the Accountable Pharmacist and also other Deputy Accountable Pharmacists. The post holder will have a specialist focus on supporting the delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) within improved facilities in the Aseptic Unit as well as future expansion into investigative Advanced Therapeutic Medicinal Products as part of clinical trials. As a Specialist Pharmacist in cancer services, this post holder will contribute to the continued transformation of the clinical pharmacy service within day-case oncology as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. This is an exciting time with new treatments in the horizon and expansion in skills within the Pharmacy team. There will also be service improvement and personal development opportunities such as independent prescribing roles for those aspiring to develop their clinical practice. This is an excellent progression opportunity for a rotational pharmacist or a specialist pharmacist looking for expanding your clinical portfolio.
