Full Job Description

Mairches Medical Practice

Scottish Borders (Galashiels and Hawick)

GP Partner

Total of 6 sessions required

The Mairches Medical Practice is looking to expand its GP team. We are ideally looking for a GP to join our established and expanding team of clinicians. We are a forward thinking and dynamic practice, based across two sites in Scottish Borders; Galashiels and Hawick. We serve a combined population of approx 11,000 patients (5,000 Galashiels, 6,000 Hawick), with an increasing list size.

This role would augment our existing GP team of 6 Partners, 1 Salaried GP and 1 long term locum. We therefore have flexibility in terms of sessions, site and work pattern all options would be considered. We would encourage applications from candidates who are keen to work at either or both the Galashiels or Hawick site.  The start date is negotiable.

Our Galashiels site has excellent rail links to Edinburgh, with a journey time of just 50minutes from Waverley station: 31 trains per day and the practice being situated just a 2 minute walk to the train station, make it imminently commutable to the Capital.

Hawick, the largest town in Scottish Borders, is situated in an area of outstanding beauty, with spectacular countryside and rural pursuits on the doorstep, yet being only 1 hour by car from Edinburgh, Newcastle and Carlisle.

Mairches is the old scots word for Scottish Borders, and this perfectly positioned region affords an excellent quality of life, with its rolling hills, open countryside and picturesque coastline being perfect for those with an interest in walking, cycling or equestrian pursuits.

Practice benefits include:

·       An average of 24 x 15minute appointments per day

·       Extensive and developed nursing team - ANPs, Minor Ailments Nurse,

Specialist Respiratory Nurse, Practice Nurses, HCAs.

local dedicated primary care mental health team (RENEW).

·       Supported Duty Team working (ANP and GP), with twice daily educational

         huddles.

·       Borders Health Board benefits from an extensively developed GP contract,

with all strands functioning or at a late stage of development.

·       Growing list size

·       Strong LMC representation

·       In house CPD programme

·       Medical Student Teaching practice with strong links with the University of

        Edinburgh

·       Skilled Practice Manager with developed administrative team carrying out

        workflow optimisation and signposting

·       Specialist services including Minor Surgery and Coil clinics as well as full

        LES involvement

 Candidate benefits:

·       Enhanced Golden Hello Package

·       Practice Paid Indemnity

·       8 weeks annual leave, including 1 week study leave, pro-rata share of public

        holidays

·

·       Portfolio diversification opportunities, developing clinical and educational

        interests

Informal enquiries are welcomed, we would be happy to have an initial conversation or arrange a visit to either site.
