Full Job Description

We're recruiting for an Assistant Environmental Safety Engineer at Torness Power Station, responsible for delivering the required standards and processes in Radiological Protection.,

  • The provision of technical advice and oversight of the site arrangements for the monitoring and assessment of liquid and gaseous discharges

  • Supporting the arrangements for the accumulation, storage and disposal of solid radioactive wastes

  • Monitoring the site's compliance against environmental regulations for both radioactive and non-radioactive plant providing technical advice and producing statutory returns where required

  • Developing the site's environmental strategy to deliver excellent environmental standards in line with the site's environmental management system (accredited to ISO 14001)

  • Providing radiological protection advice in support of operations, maintenance and outage activities

  • The provision of technical advice oversight of the site arrangements for the assessment of radiation doses, the management of radiological monitoring instrumentation, the management of protective clothing and equipment, for control of radioactive material and for radioactive material movement and transport

  • Development and delivery of radiological protection and environmental training

  • Interaction with external regulators such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency.

    As a minimum, you will have a relevant HNC (or equivalent) in a scientific subject. Candidates with a relevant degree may have an advantage.

    The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069 - £84,892 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £40,069 - £60,826 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, site based position.
